Moddy’s started off as The Modern Store in 1951 by Mr. Janardhan Rao in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. With the help of a few cooks from the erstwhile British era, he started making and selling homemade chocolates. Today, Modern Stores is an undisputed favourite amongst the locals of Ooty, school children and even tourists. From a small shop to a super store, Moddy’s is now a formidable name for chocolates across the whole country. Its popularity can be gauged by the fact that Moddy’s chocolates are fondly known as Ooty Chocolates.
